A partnership including Campaign Against the Arms Trade has launched a mobile phone recycling campaign that aims to make a dent in the British arms trade. The Trust for Research and Education on the Arms Trade (TREAT) has joined up with Greener Solutions to offer you a more environmentally friendly way to dispose of your unwanted mobile phones. TREAT receives £2 for each recycled phone and will donate all proceeds to the Campaign Against Arms Trade's (CAAT) Research Programme. The process won't cost you a thing – you simply need to send your phone/s off in a freepost envelope provided by CAAT. CAAT fundraiser Sally Campbell says:

https://www.justgiving.com/mencapmountainmadness This Christmas two friends will not be snoring in front of the Queen's Speech, Dave (70) from Kent and Richard (40) from Glasgow will be on the snowy peak of Ben Nevis, giving up their Christmas to raise money for learning disability charities Mencap and Enable Scotland. After walking to the mountain, all the way from Glasgow with full packs on and sleeping out for 9 nights in what will be sub-zero temperatures, and likely foul weather,  the pair will have covered 112 miles of Highland terrain. We'll be commencing on the 16th December and coming down off the mountain on Boxing Day... hopeful

We, the undersigned, are gravely concerned that CACI Ltd, a wholly-owned UK subsidiary of a company that has been involved in interrogating prisoners at Abu Ghraib Prison in Iraq, has been awarded a Scottish Census 2011 contract for census printing and data capture services (Sunday Herald, 27th July 2008).
