Ashamed of your Arms Trade?

Fri Jan 16, 2009, 10:00 AM
A partnership including Campaign Against the Arms Trade has launched a mobile phone recycling campaign that aims to make a dent in the British arms trade.

The Trust for Research and Education on the Arms Trade (TREAT) has joined up with Greener Solutions to offer you a more environmentally friendly way to dispose of your unwanted mobile phones. TREAT receives £2 for each recycled phone and will donate all proceeds to the Campaign Against Arms Trade’s (CAAT) Research Programme.

The process won’t cost you a thing – you simply need to send your phone/s off in a freepost envelope provided by CAAT.

CAAT fundraiser Sally Campbell says:

“This is a really practical way to bring much needed funds to CAAT while helping the protect the environment. We are looking forward to seeing the results from this new initiative.”

For more information or to order envelope/s:
email sally@caat.org.uk or call 020 7281 0297.
Alternatively post your phones to:
TREAT, Greener Solutions, FREEPOST, LON17592, Mitcham, CR4 3UZ.

This Christmas two friends will not be snoring in front of the Queen's Speech, Dave (70) from Kent and Richard (40) from Glasgow will be on the snowy peak of Ben Nevis, giving up their Christmas to raise money for learning disability charities Mencap and Enable Scotland.

After walking to the mountain, all the way from Glasgow with full packs on and sleeping out for 9 nights in what will be sub-zero temperatures, and likely foul weather, the pair will have covered 112 miles of Highland terrain.

We'll be commencing on the 16th December and coming down off the mountain on Boxing Day... hopefully not in a stretcher or helicopter.

Torturers employed for Scots Census!

Tue Sep 23, 2008, 4:21 AM
No, it isn’t a joke! Read below and please sign the petition!

We, the undersigned, are gravely concerned that CACI Ltd, a wholly-owned UK subsidiary of a company that has been involved in interrogating prisoners at Abu Ghraib Prison in Iraq, has been awarded a Scottish Census 2011 contract for census printing and data capture services (Sunday Herald, 27th July 2008).

We think that it is wrong to give millions of pounds of taxpayers’ money to a subsidiary of a firm that helped run Abu Ghraib, where prisoners were systematically subjected to appalling abuse.

We also think that it is wrong to ask Scots to give personal information to a company whose parent company is closely linked to the US military and intelligence communities.

We think that the Scottish Government’s decision to work with CACI is in conflict with its opposition to the war in Iraq and with its duty to uphold human rights. And we fear that the Scottish Government’s relationship with CACI may in future prevent it speaking out about concerns over the activities of CACI and other private contractors in war zones around the world.

We the undersigned call on the Scottish Government to cancel the contract awarded to CACI Ltd and to take steps to ensure that the Scottish people can have confidence in the ethical probity of the 2011 Census.

3iX are total keech. Avoid like James Blunt/Plague

3iX are total keech... avoid like James Blunt... and the Plague

It has just taken me a week, a load of largely ignored correspondence to get a full refund from these webhosting cowboys.

That was after a week of undocumented broken CGI & PHP scripts and largely ignored or palmed off technical support incidents.

I finally got my money 100% by resorting to quoting the Sale of Goods and Services Act regarding ‘misselling’ to PayPAl.

Thanks PayPal for crowbarring the money back out these Mickey Mouse robbers.

This is your enemy; study it well:

If anyone can personally recommend a webhosting ISP that does Gallery & ZecCart, I’m all ears!
